About CremationCompare

What we are

CremationCompare is an independent price comparison website for direct cremation services in the United Kingdom. We are not a funeral director and we do not arrange or provide funerals. Our sole purpose is to help families understand the range of options and prices available from selected national, regional and local direct cremation providers. We help readers compare published information; availability and the final written price must be confirmed directly with the chosen provider.

How it works

We currently compare 12 direct cremation providers. Their published starting prices range from £895 to £1,695. We show the headline price alongside practical differences such as collection terms, ashes return, an urn or container and separately priced extras.

The full provider list and comparison tables are ordered by the lowest verified published starting price. Homepage highlights and contextual links are editorial selections, not rankings. We do not accept payment to alter price ordering, and any commercial relationship has no bearing on placement.

Source and review methodology

We consider providers offering at-need direct cremation with identifiable service terms and official price information. We apply the same source checks and visible qualifications whether we find a provider through research or it contacts us. Inclusion is not an endorsement, a guarantee of service quality or a claim to cover the whole UK market.

A price is changed only after a person checks the provider's current official pricing page or its current CMA Standardised Price List. We record the provider, exact source URL, price and check date in the central provider catalogue. Source-check dates across the current records are 30 August 2026–13 September 2026; each provider and source carries its own exact date. Adding or re-checking one provider does not refresh the dates of other records.

Every provider source, exact check date, known conflict and material correction is published in our source and corrections log.

We do not claim a fixed monthly or quarterly checking schedule. A displayed check date means the source was actually reviewed on that date. If a source is unclear or two official statements conflict, we describe the uncertainty and ask readers to confirm the written quote rather than selecting the more favourable interpretation.

Provider pages link to the official pricing source. Industry, regulatory and medical-process claims use named primary sources, including the CMA Funerals Market Investigation Order, GOV.UK cremation guidance and SunLife's current funeral-cost categories.

How we make money

CremationCompare does not currently receive referral commission or payment from the providers listed on this site. We may introduce clearly disclosed provider accounts or referral arrangements in the future. Any paid relationship will be labelled and will not change price ordering, factual corrections or whether a provider is included.

Commercial relationships do not decide which factual advantages or limitations are reported. A provider cannot buy a favourable review, rating, testimonial or a higher position.

We compare at-need cremation services. We do not advise on, arrange, introduce or receive payment for pre-paid funeral plans.

Our independence

CremationCompare has no ownership interest in any funeral director or direct cremation provider. We do not have a preferred provider. Our editorial decisions — what to include, how to present information, and what guidance we publish — are made independently by the CremationCompare team.

Editorial standards

We separate provider statements from our own comparison, avoid invented local facts or inclusions, and label "from" prices as such. We do not publish fabricated reviewer identities, ratings, testimonials or freshness dates. Corrections are made in the central source first and then carried through visible copy, metadata and structured data.

Data accuracy

Prices can change after our check. Before paying, open the linked provider source, confirm any location or collection surcharge, and ask for a written total based on your circumstances. To report a discrepancy, email the address below and include the official source URL; please do not include medical or other sensitive details.
