About CremationCompare

What we are

CremationCompare is an independent price comparison website for direct cremation services in the United Kingdom. We are not a funeral director and we do not arrange or provide funerals. Our sole purpose is to help families understand the range of options and prices available from national direct cremation providers, so they can make a calm, informed decision — without having to visit multiple websites or make difficult phone calls during a distressing time.

How it works

We currently compare ten direct cremation providers. Their published starting prices range from £895 to £1,695. We show the headline price alongside practical differences such as collection terms, ashes return, an urn or container and separately priced extras.

The full provider list and comparison tables are ordered by the lowest verified published starting price. Homepage highlights and contextual links are editorial selections, not rankings. We do not accept payment to alter price ordering, and any commercial relationship has no bearing on placement.

Source and review methodology

A price is changed only after a person checks the provider's current official pricing page or its current CMA Standardised Price List. We record the provider, exact source URL, price and check date in the central price data. On 20 July 2026, all ten listed providers were checked on the same day.

We do not claim a fixed monthly or quarterly checking schedule. A displayed check date means the source was actually reviewed on that date. If a source is unclear or two official statements conflict, we describe the uncertainty and ask readers to confirm the written quote rather than selecting the more favourable interpretation.

Provider pages link to the official pricing source. Industry, regulatory and medical-process claims use named primary sources, including the CMA Funerals Market Investigation Order, GOV.UK cremation guidance and SunLife's current funeral-cost categories.

How we make money

CremationCompare may earn a referral commission from some providers when a family makes contact or arranges a cremation after visiting their listing. If this applies, it does not change the provider's published price or its position in price-ordered tables.

Commercial relationships do not decide which factual advantages or limitations are reported. A provider cannot buy a favourable review, rating, testimonial or a higher position.

Our independence

CremationCompare has no ownership interest in any funeral director or direct cremation provider. We do not have a preferred provider. Our editorial decisions — what to include, how to present information, and what guidance we publish — are made independently by the CremationCompare team.

Editorial standards

We separate provider statements from our own comparison, avoid invented local facts or inclusions, and label "from" prices as such. We do not publish fabricated reviewer identities, ratings, testimonials or freshness dates. Corrections are made in the central source first and then carried through visible copy, metadata and structured data.

Data accuracy

Prices can change after our check. Before paying, open the linked provider source, confirm any location or collection surcharge, and ask for a written total based on your circumstances.
