About CremationCompare

What we are

CremationCompare is an independent price comparison website for direct cremation services in the United Kingdom. We are not a funeral director and we do not arrange or provide funerals. Our sole purpose is to help families understand the range of options and prices available from national direct cremation providers, so they can make a calm, informed decision — without having to visit multiple websites or make difficult phone calls during a distressing time.

How it works

We compare published prices from nine national direct cremation providers. Prices currently range from £895 to £1,595. Every listing on this site includes the provider's published price for their standard direct cremation service, along with key details such as what is included, the areas covered, and how to get started.

Providers are always displayed in price order — lowest first. We do not accept payment to alter the order in which providers appear, and a provider's commercial relationship with us (if any) has no bearing on their placement. You will always see the cheapest options at the top.

How we verify prices

We gather prices directly from each provider's own website and from their CMA Standardised Price Lists — a legal requirement under the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) funeral sector regulations, which oblige funeral directors to publish clear, comparable pricing information.

Prices are re-verified regularly using automated monitoring. When a provider updates their published pricing, we update our listings accordingly. Despite this, prices can change at short notice, so we recommend confirming the current price directly with the provider before making any arrangements.

How we make money

CremationCompare may earn a referral commission from some providers when a family makes contact or arranges a cremation after visiting their listing on this site. This commission is paid by the provider and is never added to, or deducted from, the price you pay. The prices shown are always the provider's own published prices.

Our commercial relationships do not affect which providers are included in our comparison or where they appear. All eligible national providers are listed; all are ranked by price, lowest first.

Our independence

CremationCompare has no ownership interest in any funeral director or direct cremation provider. We do not have a preferred provider. Our editorial decisions — what to include, how to present information, and what guidance we publish — are made independently by the CremationCompare team.

Editorial standards

All content published on CremationCompare is written, reviewed, and fact-checked by the CremationCompare editorial team. We cross-reference provider pricing against published CMA Standardised Price Lists and provider websites. Where claims are made about industry averages or trends, we cite recognised sources such as SunLife's Cost of Dying Report. Content is reviewed on a regular schedule and updated whenever pricing or regulatory changes occur.

Data accuracy

Prices displayed on this site are sourced directly from provider websites and CMA-mandated Standardised Price Lists. We use automated monitoring scripts to detect pricing changes and trigger manual re-verification. Each provider listing shows a "Price verified" date indicating when we last confirmed the published price. Despite these measures, prices can change at short notice — we always recommend confirming the current price directly with the provider before making any arrangements.
